The Friends of Oakley Wood was originally set up in 2007 when Oakley Wood was put up for sale by its previous owners. There had long been informal access to the wood and many of the regular visitors were concerned that a new owner might put a stop to this. They came together to form the Friends of Oakley Wood and campaign for the woodland to be brought into public ownership.
The campaign was a success and the woodland was purchased by Warwick District Council in 2008. Today, the Friends of Oakley Wood works in partnership with Warwick District Council and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust to ensure the wood is managed sustainably for the benefit of local people and wildlife. We organise a range of events in the wood whenever we can, as well as work parties to help with the woodland management. You’d be very welcome at any of our events, so do get in touch, or join the group to be kept up to date with the latest news.
