The 2025 Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Oakley Wood was held on Monday 31st March in Barford Memorial Hall.
Our chairman Liz Sheehan welcomed everyone and gave a summary of the past year’s activities. However, first she mentioned Jon Holmes, the Green Space Development Officer of WDC who has just retired. Liz thanked Jon for his support and assistance over the years, and welcomed Deb Merrick and Craig Mundy as Jon’s replacements. Liz also thanked our departing treasurer Rod Scott for his past services, and presented him with a commemorative tankard.
Liz’s summary of the year’s activities included the BioBlitz that was held in June, and also the fungi walk in October. See the draft minutes attached below for a full report of the meeting.
Our WWT Reserves Manager, Nick Martin, spoke at last year’s AGM and again gave us a fascinating talk, this time entitled Woodland Wildlife. Nick’s talk was very well received and much of what he said is summarised in the minutes. It’s well worth a read.
The evening was rounded off with a fun quiz about birds. In what was admittedly a tough test of avian knowledge, two people got all the questions correct! Impressive.
The Draft minutes of the AGM of 18 March 2024 were approved.
