The next Oakley Wood weekend volunteer session is on Sunday 30th January at 10:00 am, led as usual by George Green. Now that the autumn logging activity in the wood is finally complete we will be meeting at the normal location: the loading bay opposite the Guide Dogs For The Blind / Tollgate Poultry Farm off the B4100 Banbury Road:
George says:
I will arrive shortly before 10:00 am to open the double gates so you are able to drive in. Please do not arrive early to avoid any cars queuing onto the road.
The planned task will be tree planting in the clear-felled glades following the winter forestry operations. This will be planting a mix of native broadleaf tree species as part of our ongoing efforts to restore the woodland to a more natural type.
I plan to run through until all the planting has been completed, and then time permitting we will also revisit some woodland ride clearance and or sycamore tree control, rounding up around 14:00 pm. If for any reason you plan to leave earlier please just let me know.
As tree planting can sometimes prove very popular if there is a large amount of interest I will limit attendee numbers in order to ensure people get an opportunity to have a proper go at planting and I can also give adequate supervision for the task.
If you plan to attend, please contact George beforehand, referring to the information provided in the earlier advanced notice.
