Warwickshire Wildlife Trust are pleased to announce the resumption of working parties in Oakley Wood. These have been suspended for too long because of COVID restrictions – hopefully this is another sign of life returning to some sort of normality.
This is advanced noticed of when the sessions will be held, which as usual will be lead by George Green. These are dates for your diaries, the actual activities will be announced later (or even on the day – lucky dip!)

The session have in the past run from 10.00 to 13.00, and I expect these will be the same. Numbers are limited for each session and George is expecting demand to be high as people are raring to go, so contact him (
Some COVID precautions will still be in force: there is still a requirement to book onto these volunteer sessions and still a requirement to remain both socially distanced and for each person to use their own dedicated tools & materials (which will be provided). Previous volunteers will already have their own WWT-provided gloves, if you don’t then mention this when contacting George and they will be provided. Hand gel will also be available if needed.
If you want to participate in the September session, please contact George before Monday 20th September (sorry about the short notice).
Why are some of the mature oaks on the south side of the wood, next to Ashorne College estate, marked with orange paint? Are they due to be felled?
They mark the trees for contractors putting up bat boxes. I saw some new bat boxes there the other day.
