I was walking along the rides today when I came across a hummingbird moth feeding on the pink campion. Lovely to see one this early in the year.
Fantastic! I’ve seen a Hummingbird hawk moth only once in this country (in Surrey) so it’s great to see them in Oakley Wood. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye open for them now. And great photos.

Lovely photos! I spotted one some years ago in my garden in Cubbington, feeding on red valerian; I didn’t know what it was, but its ‘humming bird’ action helped me identify it.
